Marjorie Fein Hurd, age 88 of Crossett, Ark. passed away Dec. 30, 2010 at Stonegate Villa & Rehab Center. She was born Nov. 16, 1922 in North Little Rock, Ark. to John Lorenz and Drucie Elliott Fein. Mrs. Hurd was the former office manager of Howard Brothers Department Store in Crossett. Marjorie and her husband Bill were charter members of the Crossett Players, an amateur theatrical group, and were active in every aspect of the Players' productions, both onstage and off. In 1988, the Board of Directors renamed the Crossett Playhouse the Hurd Playhouse in honor of Marjorie and Bill's years of service. Marjorie was active in the Presbyterian Church of Crossett. She enjoyed oil painting, travel, and her pets. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a sister and her husband, William C. "Bill" Hurd. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Galler ("Bill") of Baton Rouge, LA and Judy Hayward (Gary) of Mont Vernon, NH; two grandchildren, Mollie and Adam Hayward. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 at the Presbyterian Church of Crossett with Reverend Bonnie Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com) Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
