James Franklin Friedline went to be with his Lord on Saturday. He was born in Marion, Ill., on Sept. 26, 1936. He left this world surrounded by loved ones. He was a decorated retired Army veteran, serving in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He also served as a Deacon of Briarwood Baptist Church in Cabot. Jim always sought out ways to help those in need and gave freely of his love, time, and money. He was a witness to all who knew him, and was always quick to share his wonderful sense of humor and wit. He loved his Lord, country, family, church family, and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents, and a granddaughter, Danielle Marie Walton. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pat; three daughters, Cynthia Walton of Austin, Brenda Black of Cabot, and Annamarie (Darren) Underwood of Jacksonville; three brothers, Arthur Carroll of Waldron, Ark., William Sutton of Mulkey Town, Ill., and Edward Bloodworth of Centralia, Ill. Jim had a special bond with his grandchildren, Shanity and Reece Childers, Joey and Katy Walton, Victoria, Ashley, William Ross, Sarah, and Gracie Underwood. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Shaileigh Pettingill, Tatum Walton, Breylin Jefferson, Hailey Cross, and a great-grandson, James Dean, due this spring. The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff of Baptist Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Briarwood Baptist Church, 1872 Willie Ray Rd., Cabot, Ark., or Baptist Hospice. A celebration of Jim's life will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at Briarwood Baptist Church in Cabot with Bro. Fred Reddoch officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., North Little Rock (501)835-3515.
