Edna M. Ivey, of Little Rock died on January 2, 2011 at Home Hospice Care in Little Rock. She was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on April 15, 1926 to Thomas and Mattie Reeves. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of more than 50 years, Ray Ivey, a sister, Maudine Spruill and her brother, Norman Reeves. She is survived by a niece and nephew, Norma Holt and Gary Parsons of Grass Valley California, a niece, Vivian Cornelius, of Victoria, Texas and a host of friends from her various walks in life. Although Edna had no children of her own she was a mother and mentor to many and will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She married her childhood sweetheart, Ray Ivey, on January 12, 1946. Together they were the owner/brokers of Ivey Land Company and were active in the real estate community working in both residential and commercial sales. Edna also was the proprietor of Ivey Trading Post, a retail store dealing in antiques. Edna was baptized in 1943 and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. A member of Windsong (formerly 6th & Izard) Church of Christ, she enjoyed working with the Missions ministry. She and Ray traveled with Partners in Progress to the Island of St. Vincent in 1985. For many years, until her illness, she graded World Bible School correspondence courses of students from various countries. A life member of The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, W. Carl Reed Post #9095 in west Little Rock, she served as Auxiliary Treasurer for more than 25 years. She also served as the District Secretary/Treasurer, State Treasurer, State Soloist and was a member of various committees including the Election Committee at the State Convention. She had a beautiful voice and sang with the Arkansas Choral Society for over 40 years. The only performance she missed was this past Christmas. She also belonged to a "Pickin' & Grinin'" musical group for a number of years. Ray and Edna became charter members of Western Hills Country Club in 1956 and there she developed her passion for golf. She was a benevolent competitor and through the years she won many tournaments and awards. She was the Arkansas Senior Women's Golf champion for three years and was the Little Rock Women's City champion for one year. Edna completed the 2010 season as a member of Rebsamen Women's Golf Association where she helped coordinate the club championship each year. She posted her last score on October 10th. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Thursday, January 6 at 10 a.m. at Windsong Church of Christ with John Gibson officiating.
