Christian Gene Shireman

Christian Gene Shireman, age 29, of Cabot, Arkansas; beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, went home to God's loving arms on Sunday morning, January 2, 2011. Christian was born October 16, 1981, in Little Rock, Ark. He attended Carver Magnet Elementary School in Little Rock and graduated from Carthage High School in Carthage, NY. Christian's dream since early childhood was to serve his country in the military, and in the year 2001 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he finished at the top of his class in Basic Training and was named Distinguished Honor Graduate. Christian attended Arkansas State University and the University of Central Arkansas on academic scholarship, and graduated with honors from ASU-Beebe with an Associates Degree. While at ASU, Christian was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honors Society and earned the distinguished Citizenship Award in 2007. Christian was also listed in the Who's Who Among Students of American Junior Colleges. Christian loved all animals, and while attending ASU he volunteered at the Beebe Animal Shelter. Christian was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Eugene Havens, of Cabot, and Paul and Wanda Shireman, of Jacksonville. Left to cherish Christian's memory is his mother and her husband, Peggy and Steve Soules, of Cabot; his father and his wife, Christian Shireman and Leann Elliot, of Jacksonville; his beloved siblings, Rachel Shireman and Adam Soules, both of Cabot; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, a nephew, and many friends. The family will receive friends and visitors on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. 2nd Street, Cabot, Ark. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Because Christian had such a love of children, animals, and people, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any charity of your choice that would benefit those in need.
