Edith Robertson Deeter, our beloved mother, age 92, of Morrilton, passed away on January 2, 2011. She was born on Petit Jean Mountain on February 18, 1918, to Robert T. and Mary Ashcraft Robertson. She was widowed on March 4, 1945, when her husband, Lucien Talmage Deeter, with the 10th Mountain Division, 87th Infantry, was killed near Sossamolare, Italy, during WWII. She chose to remain a widow, devoted to raising her three children, DeWitt Talmage Deeter, Morton Larry Deeter, and Mary Deeter Balch, and was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her parents and son, DeWitt; brothers, Earl Robertson, Elvis Robertson, Elmer Robertson, and Robert Robertson; sisters, Ethyl Counts, Evie Gilley, and Ettie Gilley. She is survived by son, Mort Deeter (Janet), Little Rock, Ark., and daughter Mary Balch (John) of Morrilton; sisters, Eula Osborne, Ft. Smith, Ark. and Eunice Stewart, Little Rock, Ark. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Merle Wilson, North Little Rock, Ark., Wanda Haywood, Mayflower, Ark., and Johnnye Heaton, Plano, Texas. Surviving "Nanny" are grandchildren, Karen Cree (Paul), Eddie Balch, Becki Bunch (Brian), Morrilton, Ark.; Melissa (Missy) Wortman (Steve), Michael DeWitt Deeter (Ashley), Little Rock, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Justin Michael and Laura Beth Wortman, Ethan William, Gavin Joseph, Owen Andrew, and Landon Thomas Deeter, all of Little Rock, Ark., and Julie Bunch of Morrilton. She also survived by several nieces and nephews. We all have many good memories of her and she will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 6 at the Harris Chapel, followed by burial at Petit Jean Cemetery on Petit Jean Mountain. Online guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net.
