Alice Marie Cameron

Alice Marie Cameron, 80, of Hamburg died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. Mrs. Cameron was a native of North Dakota; a resident of Hamburg for the past 48 years and a former resident of Willits, California. She worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory for over 30 years and in her retirement years, she volunteered at the Hamburg School System as a Foster Grand Parent to the Kindergarten class. She loved the children and they loved her. She was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. She was the ideal mother to her three children, raising them with love and care, ensuring they were taken care of physically and spiritually. She was kind, gentle, hard working and never spoke harshly of anyone. All who knew her admired her sweet spirit. The staff at UAMS who administered her care said it was an honor to treat her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles Leroy Cameron in 2009; a great-grandchild, Angel Grace Morman; her parents, Ferdinand George & Anna Blow Else; a sister, Laretta Kirkendahl; four brothers, Raymond, Lyle, Freeman & Bill Else; three step-brothers and two step-sisters. She is survived by a son, Kenny Cameron and wife, Becky, of Conway; two daughters, Betty Morman and husband, Herman, of Hamburg and JoAnn Deal and husband, Philip, of Crossett; a brother, George Else of Jamestown, North Dakota; a sister, Lavern Olsen of Oaks, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Anna Cameron, Michael Mormon, Matthew Morman, Jonathan Cameron and Mitchell Deal and two great-grandchildren, Isaac Morman and Kelsey Haynes. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday, at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
