Memorial services for Samuel Dewey Crawford Jr., age 77, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011, in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe with Rev. Mark Fenn, Dr. C. Welton Gaddy and Rev. Bruce Austin officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Sam will be laid to rest during a private family ceremony in the Northminster Columbarium. He was born on February 22, 1933, and passed away on January 4, 2011. Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Roberts Crawford and parents, Vivian and Samuel Crawford Sr. Survivors include his daughter, Amy Crawford Curry and her husband, Mike of Bentonville, Ark.; sons, Robert Crawford of Monroe, La. and Richard Crawford and his wife, Lisa of West Monroe, La.; sister, Peggy McDonald and her husband, John of West Monroe, La.; grandchildren, Caryn Curry Foresee and husband, Aron, Jason Curry, Richard Curry, Katie Curry, Lee Crawford Jr., Tyler Crawford and Cara Crawford; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Christine Crawford, Sophia Elise Foresee and Brayden Samuel Foresee. Sam was a master plumber and the owner and operator of Crawford Plumbing Inc. of West Monroe. He was a plumbing inspector for the City of Monroe and also a state plumbing licensing inspector. Sam also taught plumbing at the Delta Ouachita Vocational school. He continued to work in the plumbing industry with his son at Richard's Plumbing. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe serving as a deacon and a past president of the choir.
