William Loyd "W.L." Smith, age 79, of Red Lick, Texas, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 in a local nursing home. Mr. Smith was born January 16, 1931 in Bowie, County, Texas and lived most of his life in Red Lick moving from Little Rock, Arkansas having lived there for more than thirty-two years. He was retired from Consolidated Freight Trucking Company. He was a member of Red Lick First United Methodist Church and a member of the Gideons International. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. having served in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife: June Smith of Red Lick, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law: Cecil and Jennifer Smith of Sheridan, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Richard Ticer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother: Harold Wayne Smith of Fouke, Arkansas; one sister: Dorothy Grigson of Leary, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and number of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Tommy Smith and Tim Smith. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Red Lick First United Methodist Church with Rev. Del Covington and Rev. Chuck Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Red Lick Cemetery, under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home.
