Ethel Mae Burkett
Ethel Mae Burkett, 101, of Greenbrier, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2010. Born in Greenbrier, Ark. on Jan. 7, 1910, she was a daughter to the late J. Gould and Ollie (Nash) Mobbs. Mrs. Burkett was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of the Greenbrier Church of Christ. She owned and operated Ethel's Dress Shoppe in Greenbrier for 14 years. She was preceded in death by her husband James Clarence Burkett; sons, Jerry J. Burkett and Vance Weldon Burkett; daughter-in-law Mary Z. Burkett; son-in-law William C. Burnett; three sisters; four brothers; one grandchild; one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Survivors include her sons, John Eldon Burkett of Little Rock and James C. Burkett and wife Patsy of Greenbrier; daughter Jimmie L. Burnett of Sherwood, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosa Lee DeWald of San Jose, Calif. and Wanda Lee Robinson of Amarillo, Texas and numerous family members and friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier with interment to follow at Thorn Cemetery.
