LEOTA FAYE PETTITT TALLENT-BLACK, age 87, of Jacksonville was born April 27, 1923 in Norman (Alamo Community), Ark. to the late Iley and Mantha Mullins Pettitt. She passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011. She graduated from Mt. Ida High School in 1941. On May 5, 1946 she married Paul L. Tallent in the Meyers Community in Garland County. She was a bookkeeper for over 20 years with PCSSD working at the Jacksonville Elementary and Murrell Taylor Elementary Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983. On Jan. 3, 1988, she married Bill Black of Mount Ida in Jacksonville. Mrs. Black was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville; a charter member and board member of Montgomery County Heritage House Museum in Mount Ida; a member of the Montgomery County Nursing Home Auxiliary and a member of the Silver Piece Corps Quilters, all in Mount Ida. She is survived by her husband, Bill Black of Mount Ida; three daughters, Jane Tallent, Joan Tallent and June Tallent, all of Jacksonville; step sons, Phil (Pat) Black, Bill Black, Jimmy John (Julie) Black, Alvin Black, all of Mount Ida, Charles Black of Big Fork and Matthew Black of Izmir, Turkey; granddaughter, Jill Hinsley of Jacksonville; great grandson, Clark Copeland of Jacksonville. Funeral services are pending and will be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
