PAUL W. SAWYERS, 77 of Sherwood, passed away on Jan. 5, 2011 at Baptist Springhill Medical Center in North Little Rock, he was born Nov. 18, 1933 in Sharp County, Ark.; he was the son of Lonnie Sawyers and Edna Douglas Sawyers. Paul was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service, and 31 years of civil service, for a total service of 53 years to his country, and being honored with several awards certificates for his outstanding service. He is preceded in death by his parents Lonnie Sawyers and Edna Sawyers. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six and a half years Johnnie Sawyers of Sherwood; daughter Paula Sawyers-Gagas and husband Tim Gagas from Stevens Point, Wis.; brothers Leonard Sawyers of Sherwood, Hershell Sawyers of Minturn, Ark., Charles Billy Sawyers of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Zelda Sawyers-Sarka of Enon, Ohio, Melba Sawyers-Crumpter of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; granddaughters, Katie Gagas and Jessa Gagas of Stevens Point, Wis.; and a host of nieces and nephews from all over the world. Graveside services will be held at Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association of Arkansas at 320 Executive Ct, No. 104, Little Rock, Ark.
