ROBERT CHARLES WINGERT of Little Rock passed away Sept. 9, 2010 at age 89. "Bob" was born March 29, 1921 in Wichita, Kan. Bob served his country in the Army during World War II. His experiences during the war haunted him and he would often relate the stories to friends and family. He collected mementos and clippings about WWII and other wars in several scrapbooks, and often spoke of his concern for our troops. Bob is survived by his four children, Dean of Arkansas, Bobby of Oklahoma, Carol of Texas, and Joleen of Kansas; six grandchildren including Valerie of Little Rock; two sisters, Jo Ann and Patricia; and a brother, David, all of Kansas. Bob leaves his long-time companion, Ruth Smith and a very special friend Dixie Langford. Graveside services were held Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson, Kan. The Reverend Dr. Katheryn Graham presided. Bob's casket was draped with the United States flag. The Color Guard played Taps as the flag was folded and presented to Bob's daughter, Joleen. The family wishes to thank the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at the VA Hospital in Little Rock for their compassionate care during his last days.
