Photo of Gordon Pyle
Gordon Pyle, 70 of Jacksonville, went to meet our Lord on January 7, 2011 after a long courageous battle with COPD. He was born June 9, 1940 in Weches, Texas to the late Doyle and Annie Francis Pyle. After graduating from high school he joined the US Air Force. For many years Mr. Pyle worked for Veritype until joining a close friend in his computer sales company. On December 18, 1970 he married Joan VanBuskirk in North Little Rock. Gordon enjoyed gardening, hunting, and bird watching. He was a charter member of Military Road Baptist Church. Gordon was an active and faithful member of the church where he also composed the church's monthly newsletter. He remained an active prayer warrior when he could no longer attend services. Gordon was preceded in death an older brother, Bill Pyle; two sister-in-laws, Joyce and Pansy Pyle. Those who knew Gordon understood his love for life and his quick witted sense of humor. To perfectly describe him would be to say he was completely loyal, reliable, cooperative, trustworthy and a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joan Pyle of Jacksonville; five children, Keith (Wanda) Admire of Jacksonville, Scott Admire of Jacksonville, Beth Ann (Teddy) Reynolds of McNeil, Arkansas, Robin Ann (Tom Turnbeaugh) Pyle of Pocatello, Idaho, Doyle (Shannon) Pyle of Houston; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Mickey Pyle of Rosenburg, Texas, Royce (Edna) Pyle of Alto, Texas; sister, Robbie Francis (Trent) Baggett of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2011 at Military Road Baptist Church with Brother Tim Hicks officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 14, 2011 at Weches Cemetery in Weches, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. (501) 982-2136. .
