Natividad Sunico "Naty" Schaffner

Natividad Sunico "Naty" Schaffner, 84, of Fordyce, Arkansas entered her new life in heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 8, 2011. Born in Palompon, Leyte, Philippines on Christmas day 1926, she moved to Fordyce with her husband, Paul W. Schaffner, and their children in 1961. Naty was a founding member and former president of the Arkansas Philippine Association where she remained actively involved for many years. The last year of her life was spent with her daughter, Mary Ellen, in Bradenton, Florida. Naty is survived by her children: Florence Wheeler of Lexington, S.C., Marion Blackwell of Longwood, Fla., Mary Ellen Varner of Bradenton, Fla., Doris Brady of Columbia, Mo., Dan Schaffner of Venice, Fla., Bill Schaffner of Russellville, Ark., and 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Schaffner, and her oldest son, John Paul Schaffner, formerly of Camden, Ark. Naty will be buried alongside her beloved husband in Dover, Mass. where a private service with close family members will be held on January 14. Arrangements are by Eaton Funeral Home of Needham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090.
