Virginia Evelyn Cook, 93, of McRae, Arkansas, passed to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 8, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born November 30, 1917, in McEwen, Tennessee to Winfield Smith and Fannie Duggar. She was lovingly called "Sugar Granny" by her family. She was a member of the McRae First Baptist Church, teaching many of the children of her love for Jesus Christ. B-Mart Nursery and Seed Store was where she worked, lovingly tending to flowers, plants and people. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Edgar Cook, three sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her children, Nora (Tom) Black of Searcy; L. Scott Cook, M.D. (JoElla) of Sidney, Illinois, and Jerry Cook of Jacksonville; a brother, Lloyd (Agnes) Cook of Waverly, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the hospice team for the great care they provided. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at First Baptist Church, McRae, Arkansas, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
