Albert Joe Calvert went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2011, at the age of 71 years. He was born on August 14, 1939 to Joe and Louise Steed Calvert. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Patsy, his wife of 45 years, his daughter, Angela (John) Frazier and son, Joe Calvert; one granddaughter, MaKayla Frazier; brother, Ernest all of Carlisle; two sisters, Elva Jones of Malvern and Frances (Gary) Castleberry of England and several nieces and nephews. Albert was saved and became a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in August, 1965, became a deacon of the church in 1985 and was treasurer of the church for 37 years. He loved his church and family. He began going on mission work crews in 1984 to Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and Bolivia. He made at least 20 trips over the years. He spent 4 ½ years in the Navy, mostly in the Japan area. Albert became a resident of Chambers Nursing Home in April, 2008 after coming down with Alzheimer‘s. The family would like to thank everyone at the nursing home for all they did for him, and also Hospice for their help. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke and funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 13 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Andy Schalchlin officiating. Burial will be in the Old Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. www.boydfuneralhome.net.
