Harlan L. McMillan, 84, of Russellville died Monday, January 10, 2011. He was born September 28, 1926, in Cabot, Arkansas, to Garland Granbury and Norean McDaniel McMillan. He served in the Navy during WWII, graduated from College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, earned a masters degree from the U of A and Ph.D. from Purdue University. He was a professor at C of O and Arkansas Tech University, where he served as Dean of Arts and Sciences and retired as Professor Emeritus in 1992. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Russellville, Kiwanis Club, Arkansas Health System Agency Board, and Ark Arts and Humanities Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Harrell E. McMillan, infant daughter, Deborah Marie, and son, David Harlan McMillan. Survived by wife, Ellen Marie Town McMillan; three daughters: Libby and Ron Goddard of Waldron, Karen and Ed Love of Fayetteville, and Dianne and Alan Harju of Tulsa, and daughter-in-law, Sarah McMillan Hurd of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral is 10 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011, at First United Methodist Church Chapel in Russellville. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot at 2 p.m. by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
