Anita Garner, 73, of Bearden was born on February 21, 1937 and passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was a member of Maul Road Church of Christ. She had a B. S. Degree from Henderson State College and a M.S.E. Degree from Ouachita Baptist College. She was an Elemetary School Teacher and she retired from Bearden Public Schools after 29 years. She loved to cook and won awards for her dishes in various competitions. She loved to travel and after she retired she and Charles took many trips until her illness prevented her from going. She was preceded in death by her father, Mace Allen Wood; her mother, Elise Wood Schraeder; grandson, Tyler Blake Garner; and sister, Maycel Fitzgerald. She is survived by her husband, Charles Garner of Bearden; daughter, Lori Raines and husband, Mike of North Little Rock; son, Stephen Garner and wife, Agnes of Conway; grandchildren, Trent Garner, Troy Garner, Haley Raines and Luke Garner. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
