Harry E. Farmin

Harry E. Farmin, age 81, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Farmin was born May 6, 1929, in Pine Bluff, a son of the late Arlow and Hattie Mae Holley Farmin. Mr. Farmin was reared and received his education in Pine Bluff. He was a 1947 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. He also attended Arkansas A&M College in Monticello, which is now the University of Arkansas at Monticello, for two years. He was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, a U.S. Army veteran and attended the Hazel Street Church of Christ. He worked at the Cotton Belt Railroad for forty years, retiring in 1989, as a Wheel Inspector in the Car Department. Mr. Farmin was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Jeffery L. Farmin, in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Laura Frances Holt Farmin, whom he married April 27, 1984, in Pine Bluff; son Mitchell A. Farmin and wife, Jerri, of Bryant; daughter, Janet Payne Whitehead of Heber Springs; two grandchildren, Kristen and Katie Farmin, both of Bryant. The family will receive friends at the Hazel Street Church of Christ, 4015 South Hazel Street in Pine Bluff from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011.
