Mary Marie Cole

Mary Marie Morris Cole, 78, born July 11, 1932, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond (Boots) and Margaret Morris; brother, Gerald Lee Morris; and her two sisters, Betty Leonard and Lucile Thomas. She has left behind her husband of 60 years, George William Cole; children Nancy (Rickey) Dye of Texas, Kay (Ross) Schultz of Arkansas, Danny (Bobbie) Cole of North Carolina and Teresa (Carroll) Mathis of Arkansas; six grandsons; six great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters, as well as her brothers, Frank (Jenny) Morris of Missouri, Edward (Joyce) Morris of Missouri, Wesley (Betty) Morris of Georgia, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mary is retired from the Bank of Cabot (aka Community Bank) where she worked as a teller in the drive through bank. She received the first ever award of Distinguished Senior Employee representing the best of Arkansas workforce aged 55 and over in March 1988. Mary was a den mother for the Cub Scouts of America for many years as well as a scout leader for the Girl Scouts. She was a leader in her community and was all the community kids' "other mother". She was a member of the Supreme Women's Auxiliary to the Military order of the Cootie State President Pup tent 1 and President of the Grand of Arkansas Auxiliary District 14 over Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars National home. She was also president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW District 13. She had over 300 hours of volunteer service with the Veterans Administration volunteer service program. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Pittman of Cabot and the Arkansas Hospice workers who took care of her in her final days and allowed her to spend those days at home surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Brother Robin McClure officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
