WILLIAM H. "BILL" LAND JR., 77, of North Little Rock, passed away Jan. 15, 2011. He was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to William H. Land Sr. and Versie Sims Land. Bill was retired from the Little Rock Interstate Commerce Commission where he served as the supervisor. Following retirement in 1985, he owned a transportation consulting service. He was a member of the Park Hill Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons and was involved in Shepherd's Ministry and the Wednesday Morning Coffee Group. He was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, and a University of Tennessee fan to the end. He was a loving and faithful husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Land; daughter, Lisa Land McBay and husband Turner "Sonny" McBay, Jr. of Texarkana, Ark.; two sons, William H. Land III and wife Paula Land of Fayetteville, Ark. and Bart Thomas Land of North Little Rock; nine grandchildren, Micah and Andrew McBay, Kyle, Meredith, Caleb, Samuel, Ben, Peyton, and Heath Land; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Meaghan, Drew, Miles and Cooper McBay and Addison Penzo; brothers-in-law, Lee Borders and Buddy Fugate, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and many loving and caring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Borders. A memorial service will be held at Park Hill Baptist Church on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011.
