Shirley Jane (Smith) Garringer, 53, of Foley, Ala., formerly of Benton, passed away in her home on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011. She was born July 3, 1957 in Flint, Mich. She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1975. Shirley was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a fabulous sister, and an awesome grandmother and aunt. She was kindhearted to everyone she met and always made everyone feel special. Shirley loved the beach, traveling, and gardening and enjoyed sitting on her patio with her family and friends, listening to her music. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer and was the strongest woman her family and friends knew. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Carma Gordon; father, Billy L. Smith and nephew, Billy Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories, loving husband, Paul Garringer; devoted children, Natalie Hawks, Brandi Smith and her husband, Bruce and Danny Garringer and his wife, Michelle; four grandsons, Travis Garringer, Russell Kuvet, Warren Smith and Cody Corner; sister, Norma Roberts; brothers, Allen Smith, Earl Smith; stepdad, Earl Gordon; nieces, Natasha Copeland and Jolene Lowe; nephew, Jeremy Smith and other loving family, friends and neighbors. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave., Little Rock, Ark., 72207. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
