MONA ANN EMMERLING O'MALLEY, 75, died Jan. 21, 2011 surrounded by her family in Little Rock, Ark. She was born Aug. 3, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to Hilda and Arthur Emmerling. As a child she lived in Jonesboro before settling in Little Rock. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock and attended Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Mo. She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She had a lifelong devotion to children, and for a time she taught at Pulaski Heights Baptist Kindergarten where her beloved students knew her as "Miss Mona." Her other interests included cooking, home decorating, floral design, and gardening, and her greatest accomplishment in life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Patrick; her daughters Mary O. Borg (Rody) of Jacksonville, Fla. and Katy O. Bunder (Peter) of West Lafayette, Ind. and her sons Patrick Jr. (Carolyn) of Cave Creek, Ariz. and Michael (Leslie) of Little Rock; her brother Dale Emmerling (Joyce), and her 10 grandchildren: Rebecca, Kellie and Christina Borg, Molly and Emily Bunder, Patrick III and Elizabeth O'Malley and Helen, Katie, and Wilson O'Malley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Freda and Bernard "Brog" O'Malley; her brother, Reynolds Seymour; and her infant son, William Patrick. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday Jan. 24, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church with Msgr. Francis Malone officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 25, 2011 also at the church. Msgr. Gaston Hebert will officiate the mass. Interment will take place at Holy Souls Columbarium. Donations may be made in her name to Helping Hand Children's Center in Little Rock.
