Eda S. Fletcher, age 92, of Hot Springs, died, Tuesday, January 25, 2011. She was born on February 18, 1918 in Little Rock, the daughter of William Kruse and Sophie Ruck Kruse. She was married to the late Senator Virgil T. Fletcher on April 12, 1941 who preceded her in death in March of 1999. She is also preceded in death by her son, John K. Fletcher. Eda was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla. She enjoyed her past time with gardening vegetables that she canned and picking blackberries. She will be fondly remembered for her blackberry cobblers and buttermilk biscuits. She knew how to show her love as described in 1st Corinthians 13:3-8, and her life centered around her Lord and her family, which will miss her greatly. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Andrea Fletcher of Hot Springs and Mark and Shelia Fletcher of Russellville; five grandsons and their wives, Steve and Valerie Fletcher of Hot Springs, Dr. Kevin and Dr. Holly Fletcher of Washington D.C., Dr. Brent and Diane Fletcher of San Francisco, California, Matt and Rhonda Fletcher of Hot Springs and John and Brooke Fletcher of Russellville; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla with Pastor Lyle Muller officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs, with Pastor Jon Beyer officiating, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund of Avilla, 300 Avilla East, Alexander, Arkansas 72002-8876, or the First Lutheran Church of Hot Springs Building Fund, 105 Village Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913.
