James Edward Gibbs, 89, of Cabot, born February 25, 1921, left this earth January 26, 2011 to meet Jesus face to face. He was a member of First Baptist Church Cabot. He was a hard worker, with many skills. He was an expert welder, mechanic, and truck driver. He had determination and a "not give up mentality". His motto was "Keep punching, you'll come out somewhere!" He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 68 years, Margaret Shell Gibbs, son, Ronnie Gibbs, son-in-laws, Bill Russell and Joe Magdaleno, his parents, Edward Alexander and Cora Edith Winland Gibbs, brothers, Robert Vernon Gibbs and Hershel Alexander Gibbs, and sister, Edith Marie Long. Those left behind are his children and their families: Anne Russell, Chris, Paula, Brandon, and Blake Russell, Jason Russell, Susan Gibbs Maxey, Robbie, Rhonda, David, Ethan, and Sydni Brown, Ryan, Ashton, Lanie and Seth Brown, Jackie, Lori, Haley, William, and Ava Morris, Tim, Amy, Taylor, Parker, and Hayden Gibbs, Ricky and Mary Gibbs, Russell, Crystal, and Deagan Gibbs, Peggy Magdaleno, Andy, Carrie, Jessie, Joshua, and Noah Martin, Chris, Jennifer, Austin, and Ainsley Clark, Danny, Patricia, and Jade Gibbs, and his sister, Mary Catherine Chastain , along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also left behind, the staff and residents of Cabot Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that loved and took care of him like family. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Cabot with Brother Dave Morley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816.
