MSGT. CECIL "CHUCK" OWEN COLTER, USMC Ret., 72, of Sherwood Ark., was lovingly received into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Jan. 27, 2011, with his beloved children at his side. Heaven got a good one with this man! Chuck was born July 12, 1938, in Valley Park, Mo., to John and Catherine Colter, as the youngest of ten children. A career marine, Chuck was a decorated combat veteran with two tours in Vietnam. During his stellar career with the USMC, Chuck was the recipient of the Air Medal with two devices, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal with five devices, National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with three devices, Combat Aircrew Wings with three devices and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his retirement from the Marines and the service to his country, Chuck went on to other successful careers with Bell Helicopter and as a training manager with FedEx. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by siblings, Agnes, Gordon, Belle, Leonard, Bernice, Marvin and Johnny. Chuck is survived by his three children, Cindy Temple (Ken) of Sherwood, Ark., Mike Colter (April) of Collierville, Tenn., and Cheryl Colter (Michelle) of Jacksonville, Ark., who deeply love and miss him. Also surviving and adoring their "Papa Chuck" were his three grandsons, three granddaughters and one great grandson. Chuck is also survived by two brothers, Leroy Colter (Marlene) of Baton Rouge, La., and Eugene Colter (Mary Ann ) of Sarasota, Fla. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock (501)835-3515. A celebration of Chuck's life will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 at Cornerstone Bible Fellowship, 7351 Warden Road, Sherwood, Ark., with Pastor Barry Wingfield officiating. Burial with full United States Marine Corp Military honors will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock.
