Claire Joan Wimbish

Claire Joan Wimbish, 82, of Little Rock passed away February 26, 2011. She was born December 31, 1928 in New York City, New York to the late Harry E. and Marguerite Schwarten Ward. Survivors include her son Ward Wimbish from West Memphis, Ark., daughter, Shirley Gray and husband Wayne of Little Rock, sisters, Eleanor Abrahansen of Hilton Head, S.C. and Marguerite McShane of Chicago, Ill., grandchildren, Wallis Wimbish of Oak Ridge, Tenn., William Wimbish of West Memphis, Ark., Jeffrey Gray and Travis Gray both of Little Rock. In place of flowers the family requests those wishing to make memorials to support the Palliative Care Education Fund at Winthrop p. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Slot 623A, 4301 Markham, Little Rock, Ark. 72305. This is a new fund created specifically in Claire's honor to support palliative care education in Arkansas and to acknowledge the care, support and special relationship she had with her doctor. As a "Yankee" transplant who married a southern gentleman, she quickly embraced her new way of life. Her "you can do anything" support, independence and zest for life will be missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday March 2, 2011 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church 12415 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow in Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery.
