Robert Earl Bemis

Robert Earl Bemis, 71, of Little Rock passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011. He was born on March 5, 1939 to Monte and Mary Jane (Pugh) Bemis in Brazil, Indiana. Bob proudly served his country in the Army as a military policeman, retiring after twenty years of service. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Metal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Metal among many others. He later worked at Saint Vincent Infirmary as Assistant Chief of Security. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, working on cars, and home improvement projects. He was very creative and inventive. He grew to appreciate the computer age and even had his own Facebook page. He especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Monte and his brother, Larry. He leaves, to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 50 years, Ligia; his mother Mary Jane Bemis of Hudson, Michigan; his children Richard Garcia (Christy) of San Juan Puerto Rico; Zilka Bemis, Robert Bemis, and Monte Bemis (Cindy) of Little Rock; Larry Bemis (Tiffany) of Cabot; his siblings Linda, Joyce, Christine and Mike; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 4th, at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home with Father Richard Zawadzki as celebrant. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3rd at Griffin Leggett, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204 (501)661-9111.
