John Clifton Carpenter Jr.

John Clifton Carpenter, Jr., age 83, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on February 28, 2011. He was born on January 2, 1928 in Promise Land, Ark. to his parents, John Clifton Sr. and Beulah Hall Edwards Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He was a retired Sales Manager for Georgia Pacific Corp., and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Mr. Carpenter spent many days golfing at Prairie Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Nell Aiken Carpenter. Survivors include: three sons, Michael E. Carpenter of Wright, Ark., John C. Carpenter III of Owasso, Oklla. and his children, Staci and John Cody Carpenter, James F. Carpenter of Monroe, Ga. and his daughter Zoey Kathleen Carpenter; one daughter, Rebecca Weidman of Cabot, Ark. and her son Erick Carpenter. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at Crossroads Cemetery with Bro. Roy Craig officiating under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (jonesservice.com). Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
