Lucy Marie Crawford

Lucy Marie Crawford, 89, of Benton passed away March 1, 2011 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. She was born February 26, 1922 to the late Virgil and Jose Landers. She is also preceded in death by David M. Crawford, her husband of 52 years; one sister, Vera Lorenzo; and four brothers, Ralph, Watt, Carl "Ruff", and Bob Landers Lucy was the loving mother to David M. Crawford, Jr. (and Alice) and James A. Crawford (and Vicki). She was proud of her three grandchildren, Cortny Collett of Fayetteville, Aaron Crawford of Little Rock and Brecca Jenkins of Tampa, Florida. She loved her great-grandchildren, Anna and Abby Crawford and Charlie Grace Collett. Lucy is also survived by one sister, Mamie Chisholm; two brothers, Lacy and Jim Landers and a special nephew, John Landers. Lucy worked in the lab at ALCOA before earning her masters degree in education in 1966 at State Teachers College (now UCA). Lucy taught at Westside Elementary until she retired in 1990. Lucy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she raised her two sons in the Christian faith. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandparent, teacher and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. Since 2003, Lucy has been home at Fox Ridge in Bryant. Thank you to all of her caregivers and friends who came to visit her. A special thanks to her W.A.G.S. friends from FBC. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 3, 2011 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (501-315-4047) in Benton. Graveside services will be held at Old Rosemont Cemetery at 10 a.m., March 4, 2011 with Frances Raley and Clay Cunningham officiating.
