Rush F. Hobbs

Mr. Rush F. Hobbs age 90, Forrest City, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Mr. Hobbs was born June 13, 1920 in Forrest City, the son of Thurman and Callie Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers William (Bill) Smith and Oliver Hobbs, and two sisters Zelpha Thomason and Violet Bradford. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Helen Phillips Hobbs, two sons, Rush F. Hobbs Jr. of Pine Bluff and wife Shelia, Thurman A. Hobbs of Maumelle and wife Donna; a daughter, Pamela Hobbs Jones of Forrest City and husband Larry. Mr. Hobbs is also survived by three granddaughters, Melissa Jones Wallace and husband Shannon of Forrest City, Lindsey Jones Morris and husband Danny of Jonesboro and Hallie Hobbs of Maumelle. He also leaves three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tanner Wallace of Forrest City and Melaina Morris of Jonesboro. After serving in WWII Mr. Hobbs worked as a painting contractor. He was a charter member of the Second Baptist Church, which is now Ridgewood Baptist Church. He was a life member of the VFW. Services for Mr. Hobbs will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. The family request memorials be made to Ridgewood Baptist Church, P.O. Box 785, Forrest City, Ark. 72336.
