Ernest M. Monroe of Little Rock passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born May 12, 1923 in Tulare Co, California. He is survived by his sister, Lois Fowler of Sacramento, California; a daughter, Florence Short of Desoto, Texas; a son, Ernest Scott Monroe of Chiloquin, Oregon; a grandson, Daniel Short of Chesapeake, Virginia; great-grandsons, Daron and Kevin Short of Lousiana; a step-granddaughter, Janet Hanna and step-grandson, Ronald Short of Texas; granddaughter, Eyrika Monroe of Eugene, Oregon; stepson, Patrick Mark DeMasi of Benton, Arkansas and a devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Russell Swift of Little Rock and a niece, Renee Hunsaker of Benton as well as nieces and nephews and step-great and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Sue Monroe of Little Rock and three brothers, Robert, Loren and Gerald Monroe of California. Ernie, Veteran of World War II, was a self taught engineer with a successful career at Victor Metals in Newport, Arkansas. He followed that with many years as a self employed business man focused on several products he developed, produced and marketed. Arrangements by Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home. Graveside Memorial services will be held at the State Veterans Memorial Park in Sherwood on Monday, March 7th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Johnny Glaze officiating.
