Martha E. Sweeney

Martha Eugenia ("Jean") Sweeney, 97, died on March 3 at her apartment at the Cove at Good Shepherd Ecumenical Retirement Center. Jean, a life-long Arkansan, worked alongside her husband, Donald E. Sweeney, now deceased, delivering the Arkansas Democrat Gazette around Little Rock. She and Don also owned and operated Economy Dry Goods in Little Rock for many years. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their RV to parks throughout the US and Canada. Some of their favorite places to visit were Pinnacle Mountain and Lake Ouachita State Parks. Jean will be missed by her nieces and nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and two children, Don E. Sweeney, Jr. and Ann Sweeney Cleeland. Funeral services will take place at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501) 224-8300 in Little Rock on Monday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.
