Ron Champagne

Ron Champagne, 40 year owner of Ron's Barber Service in Little Rock, was born on September 11, 1946 in New Iberia, Louisiana. He passed away quietly at his lake home in Mayflower, Ark. on Friday, March 4. He is predeceased by his paternal father, Jim Champagne, his Pop, Wilson "Red" Guidry of New Iberia, La. He is survived by Carol Lawrence, his son, Jon Champagne and Ramsey of Fayetteville, his mother, Verna Guidry of New Iberia, Louisiana, sister, Kathy Dunlavey, niece, Lauren Dunlavey both of Lafayette, Louisiana, Lindsey and Jimmy Crace, Jennifer and Randy VanEcko both of North Little Rock, Arkansas; parents of his five grandchildren: Cappel, Joseph, Brendan, Emily and Jackson, nephew, Jesse Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio. Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He spent countless hours donating time and free haircuts to those in need. He loved fishing, sharing stories, singing and always loved visiting with old and new friends. Known as a fun-loving Cajun barber, friends found his heart of gold we all loved. Ron will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and devoted customers who never stopped driving all the way out to Mayflower just to "shoot the bull". The family is grateful to Bob and Carolyn Riser and Mike Baldwin for their special devotion shown to the family. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2011, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. 501-327-7727.
