WILLIAM H. "BILL" GINGERICH, 84, of Little Rock, Ark. died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant, Ark. He was born in Almyra, Ark. on Nov. 19, 1926, the son of William B. and Becky Gingerich. He was a member of Mabelvale Church of Christ. He served in the United States military, stationed in Germany and the Philippines. He was a retired lieutenant with the Little Rock Police Department. In later years, he retired from Worthen Bank. Although he didn't begin to play tennis until his late thirties, he continued to play into his seventies and achieved state rankings in his age group. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie Gingerich; sons, Greg Gingerich and wife Judy and Cliff Gingerich and wife Mary Ann; three grandsons, Brent, Blake and Bradley Gingerich; two sisters, Mary Brown and Shirley Westbrook; and a brother, David Gingerich. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Cleo Atkins of Stuttgart, Ark. and Lora Ray of Orange, Texas. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m., Monday, March 7, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501)224-8300, followed by a 2 p.m, funeral service. Interment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
