Roy Elmer Ragan, age 87, of Benton, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011. He was born June 17, 1923 in Bearden, Arkansas to the late Charles Edward and Lydia Stanley Ragan. Mr. Ragan retired from Reynolds after 39 years and then worked 15 years for Sherwood Furniture. He was a member of Holland Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, having helped build the original church. Mr. Ragan was currently a member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Kathleen Carter Ragan; son, Randy Ragan; grandson, Gary Doggett and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Ragan of Benton; two daughters, Phyllis Brogdon and husband Herb of Glenwood and Royce Sorrells and husband Bill of Sparkman; four grandchildren, Kathy Ramsey, David Doggett, Deidre Doggett and Leigh Green and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Bro.
