Emigene Price Rankins

Emigene Rankins 83, of North Little Rock passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011. She was born in Cato, AR on October 17, 1927 to the late Kennie F. Price and Mary Mae Hackler Price. She was a devoted wife of 53 years to the late Nolan Rankins. She was known for her fine character, sweet, loving nature, generosity and kindness towards others. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and gardening. She taught kindergarten in the early 70's, but then decided to stay home to keep her grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the Smokey Lane Apostolic Church. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one daughter Karen Jean Rankins McClain Wade, three brothers, Leonard, Otis and Houston Price, two sisters, Mildred Price, and Ruby Price Henry. She is survived by three sons, Doyle (Susan) Rankins, Kenneth (Pam) Rankins and Virgil Rankins; two daughters, Brenda (Rick) Hunt all of North Little Rock, Ark. and Edith (Kevin) Nicholas of Jacksonville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Erika McClain, Ellen Edwards, Sherry Robertson, Stephanie Dodson, Matthew Rankins, Leslie Nanny, Lisa Hunt, Christopher Rankins, Brandy Rankins, Kaley and Keaton Nicholas; nine great-grandchildren, Sidney McClain, Nigel Madgette, Jordan and Ethan Edwards, Madeline Robertson, Baileigh and Eli Nanny, John Rankins, and McKenzie Dodson. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, Ark. (501-791-7400). Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Roy Kidder officiating. Interment will follow at Gravel Ridge Cemetery. We will cherish the time we had with her and treasure the memories that we all hold in our hearts forever. She was the best wife, mother and "Mammaw" anyone could ask for and will be greatly missed.
