Mary Frances (Magby) Polk

Mary Frances (Magby) Polk, 93, of Little Rock, died March 10, 2011. She was born on March 18, 1917 to the late James Robert Magby and Plezzie Mae Hart. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, C.G. "Pinkey" Polk; son, Larry James Polk, both of Little Rock and brother Clark Magby, of California. She is survived by a sister, Helen Guyton and brother, James Robert Magby, both of California and four daughters; Sissy Jowers (Jimmy); Lynne Polk Craig (Michael), Sara Kordsmeier (Dennis), all of Little Rock, and Karen Cid (David) of Edmond Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Donna Pinckley Polk of Little Rock, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary was an honor graduate of North Little Rock High School and Draughon's School of Business. She was an Arkansas Game and Fish employee before starting a family and spending many years as a bookkeeper for the family photo business. Mary was actively involved in the family business after her husband's death in 1991 until her retirement in 2005. Mary was a dedicated mother to her children; a 20 year PTA volunteer Board Member; an exceptional seamstress and knitter. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock and taught a Sunday School Class for many years. She remained, until her death, an alert and avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles; "Judge Judy"; and "road trips" with her girls.
