Paul Clark White Jr.

Dr. PAUL CLARK WHITE JR., 85, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2011. He was born on Sept. 25, 1925 in Macon, Ga., to the late Paul Clark White Sr. and Martha Ridley White. He attended undergraduate school at Mercer University, received a master's degree from Florida State University, along with a doctorate degree from Emory University, and a Master's of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University. He was a member of multiple medical societies and a Fellow at the American College of Preventative Medicine. Paul was an avid skeet shooter and was a member of the Blue Rock Sportsmans Club and the Arkansas Gun and Cartridge Collector's Club. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific and China. After medical school he joined the United States Navy and served in Viet Nam. He then served with the United States Public Health Service, including a tour in El Salvador, Central America, and he served with the Public Health Departments of the states of Virginia, Arkansas and Georgia during his career. He served on the Board of Arkansas Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 51 years, Celine. He is survived by a son, Peter Clark White and his wife, Melinda, of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Pam Amsler and her husband, Chris, of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren Nicole and Stephanie White of Memphis, and Blake and Logan Amsler of Little Rock; and brother, Charles R. White and his wife, Ruth, of Macon, Ga. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff and friends at Parkway Village Retirement Community for their compassionate love and care given to Paul. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Parkway Village Chapel, with Reverend Greg Schick officiating. Arrangements are with Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501)224-8300.
