Rick Allen Cowdrey

Rick Allen Cowdrey, 66, of West Fork, Ark., passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. Rick was born on Jan. 14, 1945 in Monterey, Calif. the son of Cam Leon Cowdrey and Wilma Blankenship Cowdrey. He married Brenda Jean Chambers on June 18, 1976 in Little Rock, Ark. Rick earned his bachelor's of engineering degree from the University of Arkansas and worked as a Civil Engineer for 13 years for the city of Springdale before joining the McGoodwin, William and Yates Firm in Fayetteville, where he worked until his retirement. Rick enjoyed horseback trail riding and was a member of the NWA Cavalcade Riding Club. He was a member of the Brush Creek Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School director and teacher. Survivors include his wife of 34 years Brenda of the home; three daughters, Cameron Fearrington of Advance, N.C., Christy Hrycun of Bella Vista, Arj, and Ashlee Sharp of Farmington, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Cam Fearrington, Angel Fearrington, Addison Hrycun, Grace Hrycun, Jessica Sharp, Kaylee Roman and Kristeen Roman. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Camille Buxton. Services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Brush Creek Baptist Church, 1385 Brush Creek WC 60, Springdale, Ark. Brother Terry Eaton will officiate the service with burial being held at the Elm Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
