William O. Whittingham

William O. "Doc" Whittingham, age 89, of Benton, formerly of Eudora, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Stoney Brook Nursing Home in Benton. He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Truman, Ark. He was the son of the late Oscar and Julie Curton Whittingham and was an army veteran of World War II, a farmer and a member of the Eudora Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Arnold Whittingham of Benton; a daughter, Gail and James Shelton of Bryant; four brothers, Herbert Whittingham, Paul Whittingham, Raymond Whittingham, and Emerson Whittingham; three sisters, Earlene Aston, Edna Mae Hooker, and Jewel Cooper; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 to 3 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Eudora Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home of Eudora.
