Katherine Elizabeth Harrison

Katherine Elizabeth Harrison, age 83 of Alexander, Arkansas died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Baptist Health Medical Center. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on January 1, 1928 to her late parents James R. Ard and Estella Gautihier Ard. Katherine worked for UAMS in the Canteen for many years and later retired as the Supervisor of Food Services at the VA Hospital. In addition, she enjoyed attending the Sherwood Senior Citizens Bingo, decorating cakes and was a member of the East End Baptist Church. Katherine was a very giving person and her greatest love of all was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two children, Christine Casey of North Little Rock, Ark. and Dotty George (Darren) of Maumelle, Ark.; one sister, Ethel Lawrence of Little Rock, Ark. and one brother, Bill Ard of Sherwood, Ark.; three grandchildren, Paul Hampton and Sam Wofford both of North Little Rock, Ark. and Ronnie Wofford of Harrison, Ark.; and 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brandi, Britt, Britney, Jodie, Austin, Ashleigh, Chloe, Taylor and Danielle. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years Sam Harrison, two sons, Michael and Gene Hampton, two sisters, Ann Whitfield and Mary Ard and two brothers, James and Shelby Ard. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander, Ark. (501) 455-1067 with Brother Ron Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. A visitation will be on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
