Harold Schisler Smith, 92, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday morning at his home. He was born in Jonesboro and had lived most of his life here. He had lived at Lake Norfork after his retirement for 17 years where he loved to fish. One of his favorite things to do was to drive the boat while his wife, Marian skied. Mr. Smith had served as a Captain in the U.S Army during World War II. He was retired from insurance sales and was extremely active in community service wherever he lived. He was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church throughout his life. Mr. Smith enjoyed life and loved his family very much. He is survived by his daughters, Pat & Joe Ed Smith, Little Rock, Sara Wright, Sheridan; grandsons, Brian & Gayla Smith, Chad & Jenna Smith, Scott & Aileen Williams, Todd Williams, Mark & Rebecca Smith, Jason Smith; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marian Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Hal T. & Susan Smith; his parents, Howard & Laura Schisler Smith; sisters, Evelyn Wyatt and Joyce Powell; and son-in-law, David Wright. A memorial service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. John Miles and Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Friendship Sunday School Class, Fourth Quarter Club of First United Methodist Church, and Dr. Rick Tate. Visitation will be Friday 10-11:30 a.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
