Bro. James L. (Jim) Harrell, Jr., age 65, of Benton, took his heavenly flight to his eternal home March 21, 2011. He was born in Alameda, California on July 7, 1945. Bro. Jim graduated from Watson Chapel High School and went on to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He then attended the Little Rock Missionary Baptist Seminary and the Minden, Louisiana Baptist Seminary. Bro. Jim pastored for 46 years including Baptist churches in South, North and Central Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Ada Marie Harrell; brother, Gregory Harrell and grandparents, Oliver and Bessie Berry and William and Hattie Harrell. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandy Harrell; three sons, Berry Harrell and wife Kelli, Kelly Harrell and wife Kim and Paul Harrell and wife Cindy and six grandchildren, Alex, Kaitlyn, Austin, Elijah and Seth Harrell and Zach Elder. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 23 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 24 at Discover The Joy Fellowship Baptist Church at 410 S. East St. in Benton with a 2 p.m., graveside service at Memorial Park in Pine Bluff. Bro. Kim Hammer and Bro. Ken Bernard will be officiating.
