Irene Louise Land

Irene Louise Land, 92, of Conway and formerly of Judsonia and North Little Rock, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Conway. She was born February 24, 1919 in Denmark a daughter of the late L.B. and Sadie Young Land. Miss Land was a very active person and had taught school in Judsonia and Sherwood for 27 years. She served as Media Specialist at Sylvan Hills, Arkansas for eight years and was former chairman of the Pulaski County Media Specialists and past President, Vice President, Secretary and Sergent-of-Arms of the Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter of ADK, an honorary teacher's sorority. She was former director and teacher of Sunday School at the Judsonia First Baptist Church and was a volunteer at the Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock while living there. She was currently a member of the Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Conway. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Lockett of St. Elmo, Illinois; grandchildren, Richard and Russell Bright of Dardanelle; step-granddaughter, Sydnie Summers of Dardanelle; great-granddaughter, Justine Bright of Dardanelle; nephews, Spencer and Larry Land of Judsonia and Derrik Land of Little Rock; niece, Barbara Hainline of Lemon Heights, California. She was preceded in death by a sister. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
