James Edwin "Ed" Daves

James Edwin "Ed" Daves, 74, was born at Quitman on February 24, 1937 and expired from this life on Monday, March 28th at Salem Place Nursing and Rehab in Conway. He was the eldest child of the late Jim H. and Willie Moore Daves. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Richard Lane Daves and Joe Hughlan Daves. He is survived by a sister, Dean Collins of Greenbrier and brother, Duane Daves of Quitman, nephew, David Goudy of Jefferson, Ark.; nieces, Vicky Daves and Teresa Skudlark of Greenbrier and Alisha Wilson of Conway. Disabled from birth, Ed spent the first 55 years of his life in the family home at Quitman. The balance was spent in Long Term Care in Conway. Ed had a gentle and kind demeanor and an incredible sense of humor. Family was important to him, especially the little ones as they came along. A special thanks goes to Dr. Lander Smith, as Ed's long time physician. The family also wishes to extend its gratitude to the administrator and staff of Salem Place Nursing and Rehab for their professional and meticulous care of our precious brother, during the Autumn of his life. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday March 30th at Quitman Cemetery, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Greenbrier (501-679-2575). Serving as pallbearers will be David Goudy, Will Goudy, Wyatt Varvil, Jed Daves, O.D. Skudlark, and Terry Skudlark. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
