CARL LORN "CY" GAINES, aged 88, of North Little Rock, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011. Born at Ozark, Ark., Feb. 1, 1923, to Mr. Earnest Gaines Sr. and Mrs. Rose Sears Gaines; he was a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the Arkansas Army National Guard, a veteran of World War II and a retired civil service employee, shop foreman for the Army National Guard combined support maintenance shop at Camp Robinson. Carl was a member of Levy Church of Christ, Past Master of Mount Sinai Mason Lodge 749, chaplain, a 32nd degree Mason and longtime member of M.M. Eberts American Legion Post No. 1, Little Rock, Ark.. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Ouida Fay Wyers Gaines; daughter, Rose Mary Gaines Buffalo; and two brothers, Lewis E. Gaines Jr., and Raymond Glen Gaines. He is survived by a son, Carl Jr. and wife Connie of Vilonia; daughter, Rhonda Gaines Finn and husband Rodney of Memphis, Tenn.; son-in-law, Robert E. Buffalo of Carlisle; brother, Jerry Gaines and wife Bonnie; and sister Addelle Sanders, all of Johnson County, Arkansas; grandchildren, Carole Acord, Mark Buffalo, Kimberly Sharpe, Lori Phillips, Jonathan Buffalo, Cayla Smith, Cathryn Gaines, Carey Wooley, and Carley Gaines; great-grandchildren, Lorn Galliano, Ashlynn Sharpe, Devon, Heather, Kaitlyn, and Emmy Buffalo, Meagan-Grace, Emma-Rae, Matthew and Eliza Phillips, and Kyle and Kenzie Smith, best friend Peggy O. Pierce and caregiver Butch McNespey. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.. Monday, at Levy Church of Christ, Camp Robinson Road, North Little Rock, with Brother Leon Barnes and Brother Garry Neal officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, North Little Rock. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
