Dorothy Fultz

Dorothy Hall Fultz was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Douglas, Ark., to Daniel Lamar (D.L.) Hall and Ellen Douglas Hall. After Ellen's passing when Dorothy was just four years old, D.L. married Lottie Collins Hall. Dot is preceded in death by these three parents, by her husband, Almeth Cooper (Al) Fultz, and her brother, Daniel L. (Sonny) Hall. Dot was raised in Eudora, in southeastern Arkansas. She then put down roots, made life-long friends, and raised her family in Indianola, Miss. In her career, she worked alongside Al to build a successful accounting practice. In retirement she moved to Winston-Salem, N.C., where she connected with a new family of friends and activities through Ardmore Baptist Church. Dot was an avid reader, a nature lover and a gentle spirit. She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia F. Pickett and Carol F. Polk of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a grandson Ryan Polk (Amber) of Clayton, N.C.; two great-grandsons, Christian Bruce and Jackson Polk; a sister, Jeannine H. Duke of Houston, Texas; several cousins including Cerelle Douglas (Darrell) and Bill Fowler (Sue); five nieces and their families. A graveside funeral service will be held at Indianola City Cemetery at 11 a.m., Friday morning, Jan. 9, 2012. Flowers are welcomed but not expected. For those who prefer to make donations, two funds are suggested: Ardmore Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or the Alzheimer's Association. The family is grateful for the wonderful, loving care Dot received from The Elms at Tanglewood, Forsyth Medical Center and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
