Linda Collins Barnes

Mrs. Linda Collins Barnes, 83, of Little Rock, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at her residence in Little Rock. Mrs. Barnes was a native of Seminole, Oklahoma and was raised in Little Rock. She lived in Wilmington North Carolina for 20 years and moved back to Little Rock in 2004. She was a homemaker and she attended the Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. She participated in the Bible Study Fellowship in Leadership for 10 years in Wilmington and the Evangelism Explosion at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. She was a cancer survivor and an avid rock climber. She is preceded in death by her husband, James C. Barnes Sr. in 2001; her parents, Lynn & Nell Mae Bennett Collins and two brothers, Mason Lynn Collins Jr. and William Collins. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Forbes of Little Rock; three sons, James Clyde Barnes Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee, William Lynn Barnes of Little Rock and Richard Byrd Barnes of Edwards, Colorado; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Miles and Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 12 noon, Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
