Amanda "Miss Mandy" Johnston, 81, of Malvern passed away January 7, 2012 at Malvern nursing home. She was born November 4, 1930 in Malvern, Ark. to the late Powell and Mary (Combs) Schales. Amanda was a foster grandparent at the Petty Center in Malvern for twenty-years and was a waitress in Texas and in Hot Springs, Ark. for over thirty years and she was a member of First Assembly of God Church, in Mt. Ida. Amanda is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years Rolland E. Johnston Sr. three sons; Joel, Nathan and Rolland E II, one brother Jake Schales. She is survived by one son; Jonathan David Johnston, three daughters; Debbie A. Stanley (Tony) of Patriot, OH, Abbie Lundgren (Ralph) of Benton, Ark. and Helen "Kay" Montgomery (Ray) of Story, Ark., two sisters; Hester M. Hopkins of Donaldson, Ark. and Kathleen Duncan of Hot Springs, Ark. Funeral service will be Wednesday January 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation was held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Malvern, Ark. with Rev. Josh Passmore officiating. Pallbearers will be Ed and Don Schales, Eric, Jake and Ralph Lundgren and Josh Passmore. Arrangements entrusted to Atkinson Funeral Home, Malvern, Ark.
